NEW YEAR TO YOU, TOO

2008 is finally at an end. It was not a hugely bad year for me, but there were some monumentally bad events that I'm glad are now assigned to "that happened last year". To quote friends of mine, "It's time for bigger and brighter."

Ringing in the New Year on my own in Memphis may sound pathetic, but I am secure in my pathetic-ness. I mean, you're talking to the girl who sat by herself drinking florescent beverages in the Star Trek Experience restaurant in Las Vegas. I was totally hit on by a Klingon and a Ferenge so who's pathetic now?

Hm.

Other reminiscing on 2008:

-I interviewed with Fox Sports. I TURNED THEM DOWN! HA!
-My boyfriend and I split. Tool.
-I went to Hawaii for a month. He didn't. HA! Tool.
-I met Carl the Opera Chicken. Changed my life.
-Thanksgiving with my best friend. Amazed I have her.
-Christmas with my whole family. The kids need to stop growing.
-I have a LOT more gigs now than I had last year. Yeah!

I know this is the time for resolutions but I don't really have any. I tend to break them, so this year, I resolve not to resolve. I'm going to make decisions and deal with the consequences of those decisions. To quote Tiger Woods (I seem to be quoting a lot this blog), "We make decisions and those decisions make us."

Having said that, my 5 year old niece watched me dry my hair the other day. She looked me up and down and said, "Your tummy looks big". So, I decided to get rid of the belly. Let's hope this decision makes me.

For now, I'm taking my mug of wine (there are no wine glasses in this apartment) and going to bed. Saying bye to 2008. Feels good, and that's not the wine talking.

Happy New Year! Really. It is going to be good. Brighter. My friends said so.
